Arkansas Research & Technology Center Poised for Growth

In a way, the Arkansas Research and Technology Park in Fayetteville resembles a movie set. I’m in town visiting today, and I half expect to see George Clooney or Johnny Depp race out of the hybrid retro/modern Innovation Center in a long, white lab coat carrying a vial of neon green ooze that holds the key to the survival of mankind. Or at least the game plan to beat Texas.

Instead, I’ve settled for the tenants such as IA clients Arkansas Power Electronics International and BlueInGreen, which actually is a lot better. These guys are conducting research and coming up with new ideas, using Arkansas resources and generating money and intellectual capital for Arkansas, that make me realize why I wasn’t cut out for math and science. Layfolk like me are just not anywhere near this level.

The ARTP is a research partner with IA, and it entails several components:

And currently under construction is the impressive Enterprise Center, which was recently written up by Forbes. Expect to be reading a lot more about it in the next few months.

The ARTP is about a good Hog call south of campus off of South School, and like the football Hogs, the sky seems to be the limit.
