The INOV8 blog tracks the latest news and trends in technology and innovation throughout the world
INOV8 has a confession to make. We’ve been so jacked about football season and the Hogs that we’ve neglected the Arkansas Patent of the Week. In our defense, however, only two from Arkansas have been issued the last two weeks.
We want the Patent of the Week to earn it. Or, as John Houseman would say, Uuuuuhhhhhhhhnnn it.
As we wait for the fightin’ slobbermouths to hit NWA in two weeks, Arkansas is retraining its focus back on innovation. Four patents were issued from Arkansas today, and the timing of one couldn’t have been better.
With that, we present the Arkansas Patent of the Week for Sept. 8, 2009:
From the innovative mind of Mary Purvis of Fayetteville comes a replaceable cooler top with sport logo (it’s understood that implies Hog logo). If nothing else, Mary has given us the word “releasably.” And for that, we thank her.
Coming in a close second this week was an educational, musical toothbrush from John Oliphant of Bentonville. We’re assuming these toothbrushes transmit educational music related to brushing one’s teeth: “Brush your teeth, round and round…”
No word yet on whether we’ll be able to download our ipods to them. Now that’s Patent of the Week material…
Ok, ok. So I did not think through my last statement.
I retract it; it was insensitive and hurtful, and I vow never to use the “c” word in conjunction with the Razorbacks. Nor do I wish to imply that excessive Razorback viewing is in any way a disability/disease of any sort.
A cure? A cure? That would be like inventing a cure for sunshine, for ice cream, for…well, you get the idea. Anyway, I’m still trying to wrap my brain around the “replaceable cooler top.”

NICE.
And there’s nothing wrong with getting sucked into the Hog season, methinks. It’s an inescapable phenomenon. Perhaps an enterprising Arkie will invent a cure.
