Michael Crichton, the Media and Technology

Posted in Information Technology by mcarter on January 25th, 2010

Check out this dialogue with Michael Crichton, published by Slate.com in May 2008. In it, he provides some candid and fascinating commentary on today’s media and technology, and their roles in society.

Crichton, who was diagnosed with lymphoma around the time he did the interview with Slate, passed away in November of that year.

Crichton, all 6-feet-9 of him, seemed superhuman in more ways than just his towering presence. He held undergraduate and medical degrees from Harvard, published multiple novels and was a visiting lecturer at Cambridge by his mid 20s, and went on to write numerous best-selling science-fiction, medical-fiction and techno-thriller works. He also “dabbled” in TV and movies…

Something tells us even the way he took out the trash was simply….better.

His later years were perhaps best known for the controversy generated by his views on global warming. Well worth the read.
