Another UA startup is making news.
Arkansas Power Electronics International has been awarded two U.S. Army contracts worth a combined $3 million. The first contract, worth $1.2 million and with the Army Research Laboratory, calls for APEI to develop power modules for on-board computers that control communications and weapons for future hybrid and electrical ground combat vehicles.
The technology could be converted, Arkansas Business reports, to civilian cars.
The second contract, a partnership between the Army and Science Applications International Corp. of McLean, Va., is for $1.8 million and calls for APEI to deliver silicon carbide power modules to that will power electronic test systems in a new generation of tanks.
APEI expects the contracts to help create at least 25 high-tech engineering jobs in Fayetteville. APEI is based out of the UA’s Arkansas Research & Technology Park.
APEI is an IA client. Read the full story here.
