University of Arkansas startup, IA client and serial business-plan competition winner Silicon Solar Solutions has been selected as one of the initial 11 companies with breakthrough technologies that will present at WBT Innovation Marketplace’s WBT2011.

Tomorrow afternoon, I have the honor of presenting our company at the 2010 Arkansas Venture Forum. It’s an exciting opportunity to share the stage with some of the best young technology companies Arkansas has to offer.

The Silicon Solar Solutions CEO was accepted to MIT after graduating from Hendrix College in Conway, yet he chose Fayetteville over Cambridge — The Hill over Beacon Hill, Beaver Lake over Back Bay — for his graduate studies and the launching of his entrepreneurial career.

When the Innovate Arkansas crew asked me to write a weekly column about Internet business topics, I’m pretty sure they didn’t realize the can of worms they were opening. You see, I’ve been an outspoken critic of the pathetic (but improving) startup infrastructure in our fine state for many years.
